First day as a cat mom

As of today, it has been 5 months since I’ve been a cat mom. What a journey it’s been. Let me recall and document the day that changed my life!

We brought Lahksa home on the 4th of August 2019 in the late afternoon. It was a day full of emotions for me. I’ve been waiting for this moment almost my whole life! On that day, I remember being excited but nervous and scared because my life as it is would change. Thoughts like “I won’t be able to travel as freely as before” crossed my mind.

When we finally picked him up, my feelings were still confused. Maybe I was too excited. He was the last kitten to be picked up. His dad was there but his mum was at a nearby restaurant helping to chase mice. When we arrived, we put him straight in the travel box and back home we went!

As we were travelling back by train, there was a short walk to the train station and he was crying the whole way, till he drooled. Poor baby. Thankfully it was just a short 30min ride back and when the carrier wasn’t moving, he stopped crying.

Once we were back home, we opened the carrier and expected Lahksa to stay in it for awhile and take some time before he came out. Instead, he immediately started exploring the apartment. He definitely was not shy or scared. Plus he knew where to go potty, we didnt even need to bring him to it, Pweh! We used a feather toy we bought to play with him and he loved it. Come dinner time, he made no fuss about the food even though it was a different brand from the one he was used to. The first challenge however was getting him to sleep that night. I think he barely slept and was up the whole night exploring and just adjusting to the fact that he is now living in a new place. All in all I would say it was a successful first day as a cat mom!
