I decided to write a little update for our button training here because we made a breakthrough! Unfortunately, I was not able to record it so I decided to write this blog post. Oddly enough, the first few days of this week has been slow. Lahksa refused to use the buttons so I was thinking I wouldn’t have any recordings for this week’s compilation.
But today, 27/8 Thursday, Lahksa surprised us by consistently using the buttons multiple times, deliberately! He was sitting with one paw on the button. After pressing the button, he waits for my response. I was so happy with this unexpected progress!
Before this, he used to try to flip the buttons. or just lie on all the buttons. There was one instance before this where he did use the button deliberately with his paw. I would say that is the first omg he is using the button moment! But today, is a breakthrough for consistent and more frequent use of buttons!
Below is the break through progress of the day:
#1: Around 640am, Lahksa pressed the ‘Makan/Eat’ button twice. This woke me up and I went to the kitchen to get him some breakfast.
#2: Around 630pm, after waking up from his nap, Lahksa pressed the ‘Makan’ button while I was cooking. I gave him some dry food as a snack. Then, he pressed the button again and I gave him more food. Next, he pressed the ‘Outside’ button for some balcony time!
#3: Around 820pm, Lahksa pressed they play button! I managed to record it from a far and it’s a little dark but here it is:
I’ve been contemplating getting another set of buttons and adding a dutch word to his vocabulary too!
